Interview with Josh: Personal Trainer
What is your position(s) at X Shadyside?
Personal Trainer
What do you like most about working at X Shadyside?
I enjoy the members, the staff, and how personable everyone is. I really enjoy helping members achieve their fitness goals & working with them to make their goals a reality.
What do you think stands out to customers when they describe their overall X experience?
The trainers, the staff, and how approachable we are. We know the members by name, and the X provides a relaxed and friendly atmosphere to work out in.
What is your specialty, and what makes your class unique and different from other fitness facilities?
I teach not a class, but one on one with the members through training. My specialty comes from my boot camp background and experience in dealing with all types of people with specific fitness goals.
What is the best compliment you have received regarding your training/class?
The best compliment anyone can expect is not verbal; it’s through continued success when a client is with you for a long time, because they know you have their best interests at heart. They aren’t just clients. They’re people with specific wants and needs. I don’t do it for the verbal praise, but it is a great feeling when a person I’ve been working with tells me how great they feel, the weight they’ve lost, or how they look to themselves. That’s why I do it.
Do you have any tips or helpful hints?
Three of them:
1. You can’t make a change for the better on your couch.
2. Calories don’t take the day off.
3. While you’re making excuses, someone else isn’t.
What classes other than your own do you recommend at X? Why?
I really like LESMILLS BODYATTACK™ for its intensity, and the spin classes, because most of us need to be pushed, and those classes will do it.
Do you have any hobbies outside of the gym?
In the summer I golf. In the winter, I think about golf.
What websites blogs or books do you recommend for people interested in your specialty?
I am always updating my collection from different universities regarding new theories and techniques.
