INTERNSHIP

Internships are available for individuals graduating in health and fitness field such as Exercise Science/Physiology, Sports Management.

FRONT DESK

Reports to:

General Manager

Primary purpose:

To create and deepen relationships with Members you do know and do not yet know, in a way that will create value, connection and community.

Secondary Purpose:

To proactively greet all Guests and Members in a warm, friendly way that lets them know we will take care of them with fun, courtesy and professionalism. You are the first and last impression of the club — we’re counting on you to make us look great in all your interactions with every Member and Guest. We would also like you to know about and be able to speak about all club events and occurrences to Members and Guests to fully make them aware of how we can assist them with their success at the club. Big picture: you are the nerve center of the club — you must know it all, you must be able to handle 5 things at once and you must have a smile, a twinkle in your eye and you must love every minute of it.

Job Duties:

  1. Greet Members and Guests with a smile and a positive opening statement before they speak to you (6 feet from the desk).
  2. Introduce yourself daily to Members you don’t know so you know their names and they know yours.
  3. Accommodate Members needs with all scheduling issues such as massage, tanning, personal training sessions, etc.
  4. Master the phones so that you make incoming callers feel happy to be speaking to you. Take and give accurate messages.
  5. Master freezes and cancellations with accuracy.
  6. Maintain a clean, debris free lobby and desk.
  7. Accurately and masterfully perform club rounds to ensure that Members and Guests always see a clean club. Notice the details and ensure that they are taken care of.
  8. Report any equipment or facility problems to Maintenance Director, place out of order signs when necessary and fix what you can when you see it.
  9. Provide impeccable follow-through with all Member comments to ensure that we are exceeding expectations. Send follow-up notes to Members when appropriate.
  10. Attend all Front Desk Staff monthly meetings.
  11. Stock all necessary forms, materials, towels, literature before we get low.
  12. Play with the Members and very importantly — have fun at the club — our Members are not here just to exercise.

 

PERSONAL TRAINER

Primary Purpose:

To create and deepen relationships with Members you do know and do not yet know, in a way that will add value to their membership, enhance their sense of belonging and sense of community within the club.

Secondary Purpose:

To contribute to and generate revenue for the club by building a practice with clients that provides safe, effective, results based exercise programs.

Reports to:

General Manager

Game Plan:

  1. Provide excellent sessions for every client every time.
  2. Meet and or exceed established and agreed upon goals weekly to maintain employment. You may not fall below a minimum of 20 billable sessions per week. If goals are not met consistently over any two month period, you may lose your opportunity to be a Personal Trainer at the club. You are expected to build your practice to full production within 8 weeks.
  3. When not training, generate new client leads through prospecting, introducing yourself to five Members and Guest you do not know daily, follow-up with former clients, and keep your pipeline full.
  4. Listen to and read relevant training materials as well as attend and participate in monthly sales and training meetings to enhance performance.
  5. Complete all paperwork accurately and promptly submit it for processing.
  6. Complete tracking reports accurately. You are expected to utilize your tracking reports to accurately manage your business by the numbers so that we, as a club, can accurately manage the club business by the numbers.
  7. Participate and assist in the planning and implementation of all fitness and Personal Training promotions and programs.

Certifications:

Nationally recognized Personal Training Certification
CPR/AED Certification

Experience:

Previous personal training experience, preferably 2 years.

GROUP FITNESS INSTRUCTOR

Primary Purpose:

To To create and deepen relationships with Members you do know and do not yet know, in a that will add value to their membership, enhance their sense of belonging and sense of community within the club.

Secondary Purpose:

To contribute and generate revenue to the club by building a practice with clients that provides safe, effective, results based exercise programs.

Reports to:

Group Fitness Director

Position Summary:

The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for teaching group fitness classes, being responsive to members and guests by offering assistance, and educating X Shadyside members on the safe and correct use of group exercise equipment. This person also answers fitness and wellness related questions.

Essential Functions:

  • Deliver group fitness classes to members
  • Assist members in using safe and effective exercise form during class
  • Maintain a clean, safe and orderly group fitness room, picking up towels, water bottles, etc.
  • Support, teach, and encourage members to meet their fitness goals
  • Work together as a team with all departments
  • Be the club “goodwill” ambassador and greet and assist members
  • Develop relationships and encourage member referrals
  • Enforce X Shadyside policies such as cell phone use, etc.
  • Attend group fitness department meetings
  • Assist in development and implementation of new group fitness programs/classes

Certifications:

Nationally recognized Group Fitness Certification or Specialty Certification
CPR/AED Certification

Experience:

Previous health club group fitness experience, preferably 2 years.

Specialized knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics
  • Knowledge of safe and effective exercise for specific muscle groups
  • Ability to calculate target heart rate
  • Basic knowledge in nutrition

PLANET SMOOTHIE® TEAM MEMBER
