Attention athletes! Looking for sports performance training to gain an edge this off-season, or interested in training with a small group of your teammates for some extra competition? Come work with our Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist coaches to make sure you’re moving well, getting stronger, and preparing the right way in order to dominate your next sport season. Our staff has experience working with Professional, Division 1 NCAA, and many high school athletes around the Western PA region

Schedule Evaluation
Email our Facility Manager, CJ at cj@xshadyside.com. Please provide what sport you play and what you are looking for prior to your upcoming season. From there, he will help schedule an evaluation with you at your convenience.
What to Expect
Performance Evaluations take about an hour, as we assess medical and training history, your goals and/or needs based on the demand of the sport, upper and lower body mobility, and various movement assessments to program appropriately for you. We conclude each evaluation with an InBody Scan. This is a 30 second test using bioelectrical impedance to determine muscle mass, fat mass, water mass, percent body fat and more! All important metrics for an athlete trying to gain an edge on and off the field or court.

Our coaching staff is deeply rooted in athletics, giving us an advantage when it comes to experience with youth to pro athletes, accredited certifications in the strength and conditioning industry, and clinical practice within the athletic training field. Your desire to improve performance and reduce the risk of injury is our priority at X, as we are confident in our ability to develop well-rounded athletes, not just “sport-specific” fad chasers. We can’t wait to begin working with you!

Staff Accountability

We hold our coaches accountable for the quality of programming and bringing value to each session. As long as you show up, our team will take care of the rest.

Sport Season Sensitive

Our programming is tailored toward what each athlete needs depending on what sport season they are currently in (or about to enter). Off-season training will be executed differently compared to in-season training.

Training the Athlete, Not the Sport

“Sport-specific training” is a gimmicky marketing tool for other facilities, but we look at the athlete as a whole, not just whatever position they play in their respective sport. We train athletes to be versatile, mobile, and foundationally strong in whatever demand their sport places upon them along with reducing the risk of injury.

Data-Driven Tracking

We utilize our InBody 380 Scanner to measure body composition, giving us a true edge when tracking skeletal muscle mass, body fat mass (also % body fat), and 20+ other metrics to ensure athletes are progressing appropriately. For programming, we use TeamBuildr software to make an account for each athlete. They are able to download the app and follow along/track their workouts in real-time.

Experienced Coaching

All of our coaches have competed at the collegiate level or higher in their respective sports. This grounds us in the trenches of what athletes are going through while understanding needs and expectations to play at the next level. At X, this is a standard we require for each coach.
